Proposal Guidelines
UROP proposals are required for each term you participate in UROP. Proposals are student-authored descriptions of the planned research for the semester, including your specific role and goals (typically 1-3 pages in length).
Each proposal must include the following components:
Term and names of faculty and direct Supervisor(s)
Location(s) of research - a on-campus or off-campus, room #, etc.)
Descriptive project overview - Provide background on your UROP project including overall project aim, context and scope.
Explanation of your specific research role and your tentative work plan - Describe what you are contributing to the project. Be specific about what your personal duties are and what you will be responsible for accomplishing throughout the term.
Goals - Explain what your personal goals for the UROP are including any anticipated end of term deliverables.
Personal statement - Briefly state why you are interested in this UROP and explain what you hope to learn from it.
New/updated proposals are required every term, even if continuing the same project. Continuing proposals should reflect on project progress and describe the specific element(s) to be tackled during the upcoming term.
Poorly written, incomplete, or duplicated proposals are not acceptable. UROP staff will email students about any required proposal revision neccesary prior to approval.
